IF GOD KNEW HIS CREATION WOULD FALL WHY WOULD HE CREATE?

If God is so loving and perfect, why would He create a world that is so fallen? A world that is so consumed by it's seemingly careless disposition towards Him?  Why did God create people who would ultimately reject Him?  Why wouldn't He create robots to love Him? For many years I struggled with this, and accounted it to the idea that God is so big it's impossible to understand.  So, I let the question slip from my study. A few years later, I remember listening to a sermon by pastor Timothy Keller, in which something Caught my attention.  He said, "God is LOVE",   boy did this hit me hard. I had heard this before, but it never caught my attention.  In this moment, I realized, that I had a fatal flaw in my understanding of God.  Love was not only an attribute of God, but God is Love. In almost all the major religions in the world, gods love is merely an action. But, the bible was claiming something completely unique to the Christian God. While God does love, He in fact is love. Not just an action, but also a "state of being".

1 John 4:8 "The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love"
1 John 4:16 "We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him."

Now, God is love, but we know that love is something that must be between two personal beings. If God is love, and love must be between two personal beings, then a problem arises. The problem becomes, if God is love, and love must be between to beings, then God was dependent on creating us for love.? Is God needy? This is where the TRINITY comes in, the Father, the Son, and the Spirit...three persons in one God. This is precisely where the beauty of "God is Love" comes into play. God is love, existing in three living loving personal relationships within Himself. God didn't create us to finally have someone to love Him. In fact, it's quite the contrary. God wasn't dependent on His creation for love, but the opposite is true, His creation was dependent on Him for love. God didn't create life in order to have love, He created life out of  love, that already existed within Himself.

As hard as we try, it is impossible to make someone love us. When God created the world, in order for the world to understand what love is,  He also created it with the possibility to rebel. For instance, God created Adam and Eve with the potential to sin, not with sin.  God knew the world would rebel against Him. We can see this clearly from Revelation 13:8 "All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain." This verse states that before the foundation of the world, God knew what is was going to cost Him in order to create us. And, in fact, before the foundation of the world the propitiation had already occurred.  So, God created us even knowing what it was going to cost Him, the ultimate highest price. So, if God knew that it was going to cost Him everything in order to create us, then why would he do it? God created us at such a high cost, so that we could have a relationship with Him, which would ultimately bring Glory to His Name.

The beauty of the Gospel is incomparable...and the magnitude of this gift is unimaginable.
